
Dhanbad,
71 Kms from Jamshedpur is more known as the coal capital of India as it has
over 112 coal mines. Home to people from all across India, Dhanbad is an
industrial-cum-commercial town in the Chotanagpur Plateau and lies amidst
India's richest coal-fields, Jharia. It is one of the fastest growing
establishments and houses many collieries, technical institutions and
research centers of high order. The town has an attractive neighborhood with
three rivers; Damodar, Katri and Jamunia, which flow through the city and
the landscapes in its periphery are the attractions of this industrial city.
Recently, Dhanbad has become famous for its

Dhanbad
is also an important center of research and education. The Indian School of
Mines, Birsa Institute of Technology (BIT, Sindri), Patliputra Medical
college and Hospital (PMCH), P K Roy Memorial College, R S P College -
Jharia are some of the prime educational institutions in the zone.
Shakti Mandir - One of the popular Hindu
Temples in Dhanbad, Shakti Mandir houses an idol of Goddess Durga.
Maithon Dam: 52 kms from Dhanbad, Maithon is also known as 'Mother's
Abode'. Maithon has the biggest reservoir in Damodar Valley Corporation. The
lake at Maithon sprawls over 65 sq.kms area. and has a rest house with
facilities for boating, fishing etc. The deer park and the bird sanctuary
nearby are other hang out zones.
Kalyaneshwari
Temple - A few kilometers from the Maithon dam, this ancient temple of
Maa Kalyaneshwari, is a must visit for tourists
Topchanchi Lake - Situated at the Golden quadrilateral (37 km from
Dhanbad) the lake is surrounded by green hills of Parasnath and forests,
making it a preferred picnic spot.
Bhatinda Fall Surrounded by lush greenery, this waterfall is
near to Munidih (14 km from Dhanbad).
Panra Adjacent to Nirsa, Panra is the place where the
Pandavas had spent some time during their exile, as locals believe. It also
has a temple of Pandeshwar Mahadev.
Lillori-sthan
Mandir - 19 km from Dhanbad and situated on the bank of river Katri,
this is an ancient temple of Goddess Kali.
Panchet Almost 54 km from Dhanbad, Panchet is a popular
picnic spot. The Panchet Dam is constructed on river Damodar and is 22,155
ft. long & 134 ft. high. Constructed against the back ground of Panchet
Hill, the place has its own scenic beauty.
Parasnath Hills - The highest peak in the state, Parasnath is 1,350
meters above see level and is a pre-eminent Jain pilgrimage center. It is
around 50 km from Dhanbad and frequently visited by tourists.
Bokaro -The Steel City - 50 km from Dhanbad, Bokaro is located along
the river Damodar. Bokaro is the home to India's largest steel complex. The
prime attractions of this cit are the Steel Plant, Bokaro Ispat Pustakalaya,
the artificial lake with three Japanese styled islands, Jawahar Nehru
Biological Park etc.
Deoghar
- Also known as the Vaidyanath Dham, Deoghar is an important Hindu
pilgrimage center. The town is surrounded by the Data Jungle and the wooded
hills of Nandan Pahar on the northern side; and the Trikutaparvata, a range
of low lying hills lend it a worth seeing landscape in the eastern side.
Situated on the banks of the River Betwa, the town houses The Vaidyanath
Shiv Temple - one of the Siddha Peeth, which is the major attraction. This
Siddha Peeth has been bequeathed with 'Kamna Lingam', one of the twelve
Jyothilingams of India.
Giridih - Giri is 'land of hills and hillocks' and dih means
'upland'. Giridih has the famous Parasnath Hills or 'Marang Buru' and rivers
Barakar, Sakri and tributaries of flow through the district. Thousands of
devotees flock to this place to celebrate a three days religious festival.
Ramgarh - This picturesque hillstation is is located at an altitude
of 1,789 mts on the Himalayan foothill and is one of the most popular
tourist hunts. With orchards of plums, apples, peaches and apricots, Ramgarh
is a great place for those seeking peace and solitude.
Hazaribagh - Around 128 kms from Dhanbad, Hazaribagh National park
is nestled in the Chhotanagpur Plateau. This dense national park has
abundance of wild animal including tigers, panthers, wild bore, nilgai,
chital, sambar and different species of flora. 110 km road in the park takes
motorists to remote corners and to masonry towers. On your way to Hazaribagh
from Dhambad, one can see the Jhona Fall (popularly known as the Gautam
Buddh Fall) and the Dhasam Fall.

climate at Dhanbad is characterized by general dryness. The weather is
pleasant during the winters i.e., from November to February. Thereafter the
climate becomes warm and remains hot till the break of monsoon, towards mid
of June. With the fall in temperature during rainy season, July to
September, July & August as the wettest months of the zone. There is
